[GAMEWEEK 14 PLAYERS TO PICK, AND THOSE TO AVOID]

Nacer Chadli (West Brom)

The Belgian has recently returned from a minor knee operation. Before his layoff, he scored four goals for his new club. In his absence, West Brom fired four goals past Tom Heaton in the Burnley goal, and they could well do something similar against a very poor Watford side this weekend. As a result of his team’s performance v Burnley, Chadli had to be content with a brief appearance off the bench last weekend. I expect him to be back in the starting eleven on Saturday and with penalty duty and a share of set pieces, he’s an excellent budget option.

Ben Foster (West Brom)

When it comes to fantasy football, Tony Pulis is the king of clean sheets. He’s the best in the business at ‘parking the bus’. His West Brom side entertain Watford on Saturday who have been struggling of late. Big Troy Deeney is misfiring and his prolific strike partner from last season Odion Ighalo has lost his place in the team. It’s difficult to see where the goals are going to come from for Watford. They have only managed to hit the back of the net five times in their last six league matches. Foster bagged a clean sheet in his last home game against Burnley and I expect another shut out from himself and his West Brom team mates this weekend.

Gylfi Sigurdsson (Swansea)

Sigurdsson is fantasy football gold. This selection doesn’t need much explaining. He’s involved in everything that Swansea do in the final third. He’s one of the best dead ball strikers in the league and he’s ice cool from the spot. Even when Swansea were struggling this season, ‘Siggy’ was consistently picking up fantasy football returns. He has now scored two goals in his last two league games. The Swans have a difficult fixture this weekend as they take on Spurs but there is no better man for the job to come back to haunt a former employer.

Cedric Soares (Southampton)

Southampton travel to London this weekend to take on Crystal Palace buoyed by their midweek trip to the capital where they beat Arsenal 2-0 in the EFL cup. The Saints will be confident of picking up all three points as well as a clean sheet. They face a Palace side who have been nothing short of awful this season. How Alan Pardew is still in the job I don’t know. Only Chelsea have managed more clean sheets this season Southampton who have been very solid defensively under new manager Claude Puel. Cedric has played two league games since returning from injury and bagged clean sheets in both of those fixtures. As well as the clean sheet potential, Cedric loves to get involved in attacks and delivers excellent quality from crosses. With Charlie Austin’s aerial ability, it’s only a matter of time before the Portuguese man is racking up the assists.

Alvaro Negredo (Middlesbrough)

Middlesbrough host Hull City in the Monday night game. Hull have been the whipping boys so far this season so it’s never a bad idea to have a player in your team who is facing them. I wouldn’t usually go for a Boro attacker as they are a lot better defensively than they are going forward but one thing is for sure this season and it’s that Hull will concede plenty of goals. The Spaniard has only scored in two of his thirteen premier league games this season but after scoring a brace last weekend v Leicester, the monkey is off his back and I expect him to have some joy against a poor Hull side.
