Chelsea recorded their first home victory of the season at Stamford Bridge as they brushed aside Everton.

Spanish internationals Cesc Fabregas and Alvaro Morata scored first-half goals in west London to make it back-to-back wins for the champions.

Fabregas was returning to the side following suspension and marked his comeback with a fine finish.

Willian created some space on the right and the little midfielder exchanged passes with compatriot Morata before firing low past Jordan Pickford.

Pedro and David Luiz also went close to adding to the score before Morata struck a timely second just before the half-time interval.

He headed home from Cesar Azpilicueta’s cross to put Antonio Conte’s team firmly in charge at the Bridge.

Everton were a shadow of the battling team that pushed Manchester City all the way earlier in the week.

Ronald Koeman’s boys appeared to be feeling the effects of a midweek Europa League trip to Croatia and rarely troubled Thibaut Courtois.

Wayne Rooney has been in great form so far this term but sliced a chance wide and received jeers from the home supporters.

Victor Moses wasted another chance for Chelsea and the Blues will be wondering how they only won this game by a two-goal margin.

Idrissa Gueye had Everton’s only shot on target in the entire match and the travelling faithful from Merseyside had to wait until the 89th minute to see that shot saved Courtois.

The international break will be welcomed by the Toffees after this performance while it seems Conte’s men are just warming up.
