The General’s Budget Picks for Gameweek 38

Zaha and Giroud - worth a punt

John Terry (Chelsea) – £15

Position: Defender

Fixture: Sunderland (home)

Terry will make his last appearance in a Chelsea shirt on Sunday. Antonio Conte refused to be drawn on whether Terry would start the game or not but I think he will. He scored last weekend against Watford and he’ll be hoping to do so one more time in front of the Chelsea faithful. There is a chance he’ll take a penalty if the Blues are awarded one. Sunderland have failed to score in their last two matches therefore a clean sheet looks likely for Terry and co.

Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace) – £17

Position: Midfielder

Fixture: Manchester United (away)

Zaha will be keen to prove a point on his return to Old Trafford this weekend. The Ivorian has enjoyed his most productive season to date in the Premier League, scoring seven goals and registering eleven assists. Big Sam will do well to keep him at the club for next season.

Manchester United play in the Europa League final just three days after this fixture and Jose Mourinho has revealed that his starting line-up will include quite a few youngsters. Palace can finish in 11th place with a victory which would be financially rewarding for the club. I’m tipping Big Sam to get one over Mourinho and his kids on Sunday.

Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool) – £18

Position: Forward

Fixture: Middlesbrough (home)

I never thought I’d include this man in my fantasy football articles this season but he’s on my radar for the final game of the season. As I’ve preached many times before, it’s vital at this stage of the season to focus on players/teams who have something to play for. Sturridge fits the bill with Liverpool still jostling with Manchester City and Arsenal for a Champions League spot. Sturridge was impressive in the 4-0 win over West Ham, getting himself on the scoresheet and earning high praise from his manager Jurgen Klopp. With Roberto Firmino struggling for fitness, Sturridge looks set to lead the line again for the Reds and he could be the man to fire them into Europe.

Olivier Giroud (Arsenal) – £20

Position: Forward

Fixture: Everton (home)

Like Sturridge, Olivier Giroud and his Arsenal teammates have something to play for. Arsene Wenger’s side need to win and hope that either Liverpool or City slip up. The Frenchman has scored three times in his last three appearances and seems to have nailed down the strikers berth ahead of Danny Welbeck. Arsenal have won four on the trot and I expect them to make it five against the Toffees.
