The 3pm matches will be crucial for the relegation places, with Swansea vs Sunderland the pick of those games. Finally, we have Stoke versus Arsenal in the late kick off, which the Gunners will need to win if they want a chance at securing Champions League football next season! With all that said and done, there are also many fantasy football leagues on offer, but who has to be in your team, and who must you avoid?

Must Haves

Defenders

Arsenal have struggled somewhat going forward, however defensively they have been reasonably solid. That being said, they travel to Stoke this weekend and another clean sheet may be on the cards. Therefore Nacho Monreal, Petr Cech and co could find themselves in many fantasy teams this weekend. Burnley have struggled away from home this season and with them travelling to Bournemouth, it may be wise to bring in some Cherries fantasy football cover. The popular picks will be Simon Francis and Charlie Daniels who also possess an attacking threat in the Bournemouth side.

Midfielders

Swansea are now fully in the relegation scrap and with a trip to Sunderland, they will once again be looking to star man Gylfi Sigurdsson to lead the line. The Icelandic playmaker has been one of the few bright sparks in their season and could just find himself in and amongst the fantasy points this weekend. David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne were both brilliant last weekend, as Man City put 5 past Crystal Palace. In the lunchtime kick off, City host Leicester and Pep Guardiola will look to these two once again to help carve their way through the Foxes’ defence. Get them in!

Forwards

Joshua King has been truly terrific for Bournemouth this season and has 4 goals and an assist in his last 6 fixtures! Coming up against Burnley this weekend, it would take a mad man not to include King in their fantasy team as he looks to be the main source of goals for Bournemouth. Southampton’s Manolo Gabbiadini has struggled to find the back of the net of late, however this week the Saints come up against a Middlesbrough side who will already be looking to next season in the Championship. Although the Saints could also have their eye on next season, it’s likely to be Southampton coming out on top here. Our final must-have is a bit of a gamble, in the form of Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean and Arsenal have really struggled for form of late, but with a game against Stoke and a Champions League position on offer, they may just turn up this weekend!

Must Nots

Defenders

It’s brilliant to see Jack Butland back in action after being sidelined for so long due to injury, however Arsenal will be gunning for it as they look to get into that top 4. A Butland clean sheet against the Gunners may just be asking a little too much. Another side who may not be keeping a clean sheet this weekend is Leicester. Man City put 5 past Palace last weekend and in the lunchtime kick off they face the Foxes, therefore Christian Fuchs and Danny Simpson make the must-not list this weekend. Relegated Sunderland host Swansea, who will be fighting for Premier League survival and will look to topple the Black Cats defence and therefore our final must not defender is Sunderland’s Lamine Kone.

Midfielders

Middlesbrough host Southampton and with Boro having already been relegated, Stuart Downing and Marten De Roon should be avoided. With just 5 goals and 4 assists between these two all season, it’s fair to say they haven’t exactly been ‘in form’. Riyad Mahrez has had a reasonable second half of the season and has found some form of late, however as mentioned above, Leicester have an extremely tough fixture against in-form City and he may just struggle to have the impact he is used to. Marco Arnautovic is one of those players who doesn’t score any fantasy points for weeks and then bags a massive amount at once. We are predicting another blank this weekend as Stoke come up against a tough fixture versus Arsenal.

Forwards

Jermain Defoe may have found the back of the net last weekend at home to Hull, however it was only his first goal in 11 Premier League games. This weekend, Sunderland come up against Swansea who will be fighting for survival and Defoe may just find it tough to find the back of the net this weekend. Andre Gray has been notching in a few goals of late but with Burnley away from home, it may just be wise to avoid Burnley players this weekend as their form away from Turf Moor is notably poor. The final must not of the week is relegated Alvaro Negredo. Negredo’s form is hit and miss, however we expect it to be more miss than hit this week against Southampton!
