Chelsea will need to immediately recover from Thomas Tuchel’s first loss as manager as they tonight face Porto in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

A remarkable 5-2 loss to West Brom, in which Thiago Silva was sent off, was in stark contrast to their recent performances based on rearguard wins, none more so than beating Atletico Madrid home and away in the last round.

Porto were the team to get in the draw but are no pushovers after eliminating Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus.

Date, time and venue

Porto vs Chelsea is scheduled for an 8pm BST kick-off on Wednesday, April 7, 2021.

The match will be held behind closed doors at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium in Seville due to coronavirus travel restrictions.

Porto vs Chelsea team news

Chelsea will have Christian Pulisic and N'Golo Kante fit to face Porto after overcoming hamstring issues. Tammy Abraham will also be in the squad after being left out of Saturday's 5-2 loss to West Brom, although N'Golo Kante is unlikely to start after his latest muscle complaint.

Porto will be without midfielder Sergio Oliveira because of a yellow card suspension. He scored two goals to help Porto get past Juventus in the last 16, including one in extra time. The Portuguese club will also be without Mehdi Taremi, who was sent off in the second leg against Juventus, but have included Malang Sarr - on loan from Chelsea - as there is no rule that prevents him from facing his parent club.

Porto vs Chelsea score prediction

Porto are made of stern stuff - just ask Ronaldo - but often concede in the Champions League, and that spells disaster. I’m backing Chelsea to get at least one away goal, even with the misfiring Timo Werner.
