Crystal Palace’s improvement under Roy Hodgson

Like us, Crystal Palace sacked their manager early on in the season and it has paid off. Crystal Palace currently sit 13th in the Premier League table, only one point behind us. Hodgson’s appointment was criticised by many but there is no doubt that he has made them tough to beat, and their confidence has grown with two wins from the past three.

Wilfried Zaha will be their main attacking threat though he has struggled in their past few games. Let’s not forget the threat that they pose from set-pieces with Christian Benteke. It is going to be a hard game and this could be a turning point in our season.

Can we bounce back from the FA Cup defeat?

David Moyes fielded a team mixed of youngsters and experienced players against Wigan in the FA Cup though it was a game that we expected to win. Our performance was very disappointing and we failed to pose any attacking threat, being dominated and outplayed by Wigan.

Like last season, we have been knocked out of the FA Cup in its early stages and have no hope of going to Wembley. We have to bounce back from this performance and it is imperative that we show that we are making improvements. It is disappointing that the fringe players failed to show why they should be in the first-team given that we need more competition in the squad.

Injuries and new signings

We are without many key players with the likes of Andy Carroll, Manuel Lanzini, Marko Arnautovic and Pedro Obiang missing the game. There are only days left in the transfer window and we desperately need new signings. Joao Mario is likely to make his Premier League debut against Crystal Palace after playing 45 minutes against Wigan. But will he make a big change on his own? It’s unlikely.
