2024 Paris Olympics: New Zealand knocks off U.S. in women's rugby sevens semifinal
New Zealand will play Australia or Canada in the final as the Black Ferns look for their second straight gold medal.

New Zealand will go for its second straight Olympic women's rugby sevens gold medal after beating the U.S. 24-12 in Tuesday's semifinal at Stade de France in Paris.
Michaela Blyde and Stacey Waaka each had 2 tries and 10 points for the Black Ferns. Alev Kelter and Kristi Kirshe each had a try and 5 points for the U.S. in the loss.
New Zealand will face Canada for gold at 1:45 p.m. ET on Tuesday. The U.S., who reached the Olympic semifinals for the first time, will play for its first-ever medal against Australia in the bronze medal match at 1 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
The New Zealand women are now 3-0 in Olympic semifinals. After beating Canada at Rio 2016 they fell to Australia in the gold medal match. At Tokyo 2020, they knocked out Fiji before going on to win gold over France.
Canada upset Australia 21-12 in Tuesday's other semifinal. Asia Hogan-Rochester, Charity Williams and Fancy Bermudez each contributed a try in the win.
