Rangers manager Philippe Clement's coat is hanging on a shoogly peg after their Pittodrie drubbing.

They are now a staggering nine points adrift of the Scottish Premiership's top two and should they lose their League Cup semi-final on Sunday against Motherwell, it's hard to imagine the Belgian still being in charge at Ibrox come Monday morning. Many fans will have already lost faith in the manager but he remains in his post — for now.

However, if he is to be replaced there will already be an Ibrox succession plan in place, so who is likely to be approached for the job? Familiar faces, gaffers who have been tipped for the job before, and a box-office ex-English Premier League name are among the supposed favourites for the big job if Clement is indeed relieved of his duties. Gambling.com have priced up the runners and riders for the job if an opening becomes available soon, with a current top-flight boss reportedly the most likely right now.

Derek McInnes - 2/1

Current job: Kilmarnock

The current Killie manager had a slow start to the season in Ayrshire but is beginning to turn it around and recorded an impressive come-from-behind victory against Hearts just last night.

He did rebuff an advance from the Ibrox club before, but would he knock it back again?

Rafael Benitez - 5/2

Current job: No club, last managed Celta Vigo before his sacking in March of this year

Wow, what an appointment this would be.

With two La Liga titles, a Champions League triumph, and a Coppa Italia among a long list of silverware he's won, he'd certainly bring some continental flair and experience in winning trophies to Govan.

Henrik Rydstrom - 3/1

Current job: Malmo

On Monday night, Henrik Rydstrom and his Malmo side secured the Allsvenskan title with two games to spare. He garnered praise and attention from across Europe thanks to his time in charge of the Swedish champions, who he has now led to consecutive league titles.

Kevin Muscat - 3/1

Current job: Shanghai Port

It feels inevitable that Muscat, a former Rangers player himself, will be forever linked with the hot seat at the club until he takes the role up.

He was reportedly 'devastated' to have missed out on the job at Ibrox when Clement was appointed. Now the manager at Shanghai Port, he boasts an impressive 78% win record after just under a year in charge.

Frank Lampard - 4/1

Current job: No club, was most recently Chelsea caretaker early last year

Similarly linked to the role when they were searching for their last manager and landed on Clement.

His name split opinion even then, with some hoping he would be in the Steven Gerrard mould of winning midfielder turned manager, but his record as a gaffer so far has hardly been overly impressive.

Kjetil Knutsen - 9/2

Current job: Bodo Glimt

Look, it's not been that long since Rangers appointed Clemenet so plenty of the names from that managerial search remain likely to be linked - Knutsen is one of them.

The current Bodo Glimt boss has a 60% win record and is a manager who plays attractive, attacking, direct football.
