The £62million image that will boost Newcastle United as Eddie Howe looks to 'next level'

Newcastle United celebrated their victory over Arsenal in the only way they know how with a dressing room picture at St James' Park.

Having triumphed against the Gunners for the second season running, Newcastle ended a barren Premier League run of five without a win and hauled themselves up from 12th in the process. There has been no real injury crisis at United this season but that doesn't mean it has been a campaign without setbacks.

As Eddie Howe was conducting his post-game interviews he was given news that Callum Wilson's trip to Doha for treatment had been a success. A big fortnight lies in wait for Wilson now but he looked in good spirits as he posed with Newcastle fans in Qatar at a fan meeting following recovery sessions at the Aspetar hospital.

If Wilson is back to take a place on the bench in the next home game against West Ham in late November, Howe will feel he is starting to get the feel of a full squad. But Wilson's news was not the only positive for Howe on that front.

As the players made their way back to the dressing room they were joined by another £62million worth of talent. For in the plush dressing rooms, team-mates were greeted by Kieran Trippier, Matt Targett and Sven Botman.

Trippier could also be back after the international break while Targett is also finally close to the first-team picture again. Botman could return at some stage next month after an ACL injury.

After the game, Howe toasted the victory for a few moments in the Press conference but quickly started to turn his attention to Nottingham Forest a week today. When asked by Chronicle Live if the challenge is now to find the next level after beating Arsenal and Chelsea in the space of a week, he told me: "That’s the key for us, we don’t want it to be a one-win, isolated moment where we’re happy with ourselves.

"It’s back-to-back wins for us, at home to high-quality teams, and that’s very pleasing, but we now know Nottingham Forest takes a huge priority for us, and if we can end this period of games with another positive result, that leaves us in a great place."

If Newcastle can avoid defeat at the City Ground they will sign off for the final international break of the year knowing they could not have done much more to recover from defeats at home to Brighton and away to Chelsea.
