While Liverpool might not have been missing as many players as Manchester City is at the moment or have been without its key man, as Arsenal has been with Martin Odegaard absent — Arne Slot has not had things all his own way since he arrived in the summer.

Sole summer signing Federico Chiesa has played a very limited role as he builds his way up to full match sharpness while others like Harvey Elliott have been sidelined through injury. And, of course, number one goalkeeper Alisson has been out since just before the last international break, missing some crucial fixtures because of a hamstring problem.

Alan Shearer, though, believes that the Reds haven't missed the Brazilian in the slightest. Given they have won six and drew one of the games during Alisson's absence so far, the results would seem to suggest that he is right.

"The best compliment we can pay to Caoimhin Kelleher is that no one has mentioned Alisson being missing at Liverpool since his injury," Shearer told Betfair.

"Kelleher made another two or three good saves in Liverpool’s win over Aston Villa and I was at the Leverkusen game in the Champions League where late on, he had to pull off another couple of great saves. He has a good understanding with his back four, they look as if they trust him, and they have a good relationship, so Alisson hasn't been missed at all."

Slot will give an update on Alisson and the rest of the players who have been injured lately in tomorrow's press conference. Alisson has been doing some training during the international break but it is not yet clear exactly when he will return. Trent Alexander-Arnold picked up a muscle injury during the final match before the club game was halted and he hasn't been spotted since.

Liverpool.com says: Kelleher has been brilliant but as soon as Alisson is ready to return, he will slot straight back into the starting XI. That's exactly why the Irishman made it clear during the summer that he wanted to leave.

But it says plenty about the depth of roster Slot has such a big player hasn't been missed. Liverpool has better depth than anyone else in the Premier League, which is a big part of the reason he has been so successful so far.
