Alexis Mac Allister and Kostas Tsimikas are fitness doubts for Liverpool's visit from Chelsea on Sunday after both missed full training at the AXA Centre on Friday.

Mac Allister was not involved in the team session as he worked towards a Liverpool comeback having been brought off at half time of the win at Crystal Palace with an adductor complaint before the international break.

The Argentina international was cleared for duty with the World Cup holders and started the 6-0 win over Bolivia in the early hours of Thursday morning after sitting out the clash with Venezuela earlier in the week. The Reds' No.10 lasted 66 minutes before being withdrawn for Roma's Leandro Paredes.

Despite being able to play some part for Lionel Scaloni's side, the former Brighton midfielder was absent from team training as Arne Slot and his staff put the players through their paces ahead of the return of the Premier League this weekend.

It's understood Mac Allister took part in a gym session instead, away from his colleagues as he works towards a return to full training, meaning he is now a doubt for Chelsea.

Tsimikas sat out Greece's win over England at Wembley during the international break with an illness and took no part in Friday's session at the club's Kirkby base with Andy Robertson now slated to return to the side for Sunday's clash.

Tsimikas started ahead of Scotland captain Robertson for the Palace victory before the international break and had a hand in the winning goal with a defence-splitting pass for Cody Gakpo to grab an assist for match-winner Diogo Jota at Selhurst Park.

However, the Greek left-back's illness was enough for him to sit out the pre-Chelsea workout Robertson is now expected to return to back four that has been the meanest in the Premier League so far, with just two goals shipped after seven games.

Speaking in his Friday morning press conference, before training, Slot said: "Now we’ve got quite some issues from players coming back from the national teams, and we can only judge that perfectly today because today is the first time that they are all in and the first time that they are all training together again. So, let’s see after the session where everybody is.

“Macca missed one game [for Argentina], he played the second one. Kostas missed out in the first game against England so I can name them all but we’ve got a few issues going on and let’s wait and see where we are after today. [Wataru] Endo as well [he] was also sick.”

Federico Chiesa appeared to miss the session too as he continues to work towards his own comeback having missed the trip to Palace and the Champions League victory at home to Bologna on October 2.
