Alisson Becker will make his long-awaited return to the Liverpool first team after being named in the starting line-up for the Champions League clash at Girona this evening. Alisson hasn’t featured since tearing his hamstring during the closing stages of the Premier League win at Crystal Palace more than two months ago.

The Brazilian was sidelined for 11 games but is now back between the sticks as one of four changes made by Arne Slot for the match in Spain, in which victory will secure a place in the top eight for Liverpool and direct qualification for the last 16.

Trent Alexander-Arnold returns at right-back in an otherwise unchanged defence, with Andy Robertson left-back and Joe Gomez partnering skipper Virgil van Dijk at centre-back.

In midfield, the one-match suspension for Alexis Mac Allister means Dominik Szoboszlai is back in the number 10 role. Curtis Jones drops to the deeper role alongside Ryan Gravenberch.

Luis Diaz, meanwhile, returns on the left flank of the forward line, with Darwin Nunez down the middle and Mohamed Salah on the right.

LIVERPOOL (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Jones; Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz; Nunez. Subs: Kelleher, Jaros, Endo, Gakpo, Elliott, McConnell, Norris, Quansah.
