Ally McCoist makes honest Rangers admission as Alan Brazil grilling leaves legend in no doubt
Ally McCoist has admitted he would be willing to sacrifice the powderkeg Europa League tie against Tottenham if it meant Rangers pipping Celtic to glory in the Premier Sports Cup final at Hampden on Sunday.
Former Hoops manager Ange Postecoglou takes his Spurs side to Ibrox tonight, where he is sure to get a hostile reception from the Gers crowd. Light Blues boss Philippe Clement has alleviated pressure surrounding his own position in the dugout by knocking up five wins in the last six games in all competitions, while opposite number Postecoglou is coming under heavy fire with Spurs currently seven points adrift of the top four in the Premier League.
And having watched Rangers pick up 10 points from their first five matches in the Europa League, Ibrox legend McCoist concedes he wouldn't be too bothered seeing Spurs come out on top tonight if the Gers go onto lift the trophy against their bitter city rivals at the weekend. Put on the spot by Alan Brazil during a live phone call on talkSPORT, he said: "Define battering? Because if we get beaten tonight we still have a fairly good chance of qualification.
"So to answer your question, I will take a 2-0 tonight and a win on Sunday, how's that?" Brazil then jested if McCoist would consider a reverse of the scorelines, to which McCoist replied: "Al the line has gone a bit funny."
