Ally McCoist trolls Celtic fans over Santa Claus redemption arc following trophy presentation

Ally McCoist has poked fun at Celtic fans over their booing of Santa Claus after the man himself presented them with the Premiership trophy at the weekend.

It marked a remarkable redemption arc for Saint Nick as he was back at Parkhead months on from being pilloried by the Hoops support. The original visit came back in December in the weeks leading up to Christmas and the crowd were not impressed with what they were seeing with their team 2-0 down on Hearts.

Santa made a half-time appearance but saw supporter frustration taken out on him with boos raining down. With the mood a whole lot better in the May sunshine after Brendan Rodgers' side sealed the title, he was invited back to do the trophy presentation and all was forgiven.

McCoist explained the situation to those in England, including talkSPORT host Jeff Stelling, who may not have known the full story. And the Rangers legend still couldn't believe the treatment Santa initially was given.

He laughed: "You know the story? The story is hilarious. When they were going through a not so successful couple of weeks and the fans had turned on everybody. They booed Santa Claus.

"I mean what state has the club got to be in if you are booing Santa Claus? It can't get any lower than that can it? However, they did the right thing and got Santa back for the big day so fair play."
