Alphonso Davies transfer latest as Man United told club most likely to sign Bayern star
The lack of Champions League football - and the upheaval at Manchester United - makes them a "less attractive" proposition for Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies. The Canadian, who has just over six months left to run on his contract at the Allianz Arena, has been linked with a move to United.
Davies, 24, joined Bayern from Vancouver Whitecaps in January 2019 and has since established himself as one of Europe's best left-sided defenders. He lifted the Champions League with Bayern during his first full season at the club and has clocked up over 200 appearances, winning nine major trophies during his time in Germany.
However, with Davies out of contract next summer, there has been some speculation over his long-term future. Having turned 24 last month, Davies is approaching the prime years of his career and the uncertain situation has alerted clubs from across the Premier League, who are said to be monitoring the defender.

United are one team that have been tipped to sign Davies in the past as Ruben Amorim's side look to bolster that area of the pitch. But, according to The Athletic, Davies doesn't see United as appealing as some of their rivals due to the face they're not in the Champions League and the change that is going on at the club.
Having won the FA Cup at the back end of last season, United are competing in the Europa League this term. However, with United already eight points off the top-four in the Premier League, winning Europe's secondary competition could prove to be their best chance of qualifying for the Champions League next year.
Although reaching the Champions League - and ensuring United are more stable on and off the pitch - could turn Davies' head, it's added that arch rivals Liverpool have expressed an interest in the player, and that they would be the most plausible Premier League destination for him next summer. A move to Anfield, however, is considered as "unlikely" at this stage and Liverpool have denied "any interest" in the deal.
Other clubs, such as Arsenal and Chelsea, are said to be monitoring the left-back. Speaking on his future back in September, Davies said: "My full focus is on this team. I'm playing here for Bayern Munich now and that's what I'm concentrating on.
"I want to win every game. That's why I'm not thinking about it at the moment. Regardless of whether I stay or I leave the club, I will always carry this club in my heart."
