Amir Bourouh outlines Hull FC commitment with expectations laid out
Like any player, Amir Bourouh has experienced the highs and lows during his career to date. Last season was no different.
At Salford, the departure of Andy Ackers saw him handed the number nine jersey and the chance to establish himself as a starting hooker. It was the opportunity he had been waiting for.
A strong start to the season followed before an injury took him off stride and after that, games proved hard to come by as he featured in just four of Salford's final 13 games.

A move to Hull FC gives him a fresh start with the same objective. Given the number nine jersey, Bourouh wants to make the role his own.
"It's a rollercoaster; it can take you up and drop you just as quick," he said. "It's just how it is. If an opportunity came to get that role again I'm always going to attack it with both hands. I felt like I did that at the start of the season, and I want to do the same here.
"I hope this can become my home. I probably thought the same with Salford when I signed there. But I do feel like this is the longest contract I've signed, so I think this could be my home for the rest of my career. I'm moving over here, so I'm planning to be here a long time. I really want to get involved with the lads off the field and the community too."
The feeling among many is that a climb up the table will be acceptable but Bourouh believes they should be striving for much more.
"I want to be competing for everything. Off the back of last year, it would be easy to say anything better than that is acceptable, but we've got to be pushing for more than that. I think we have recruited well and a lot of older players who have done it before. I don't see why we can't have a shot at this season.
"We've not touched on what anyone else thinks; it's literally about us. But it's a similar carry-on to what it's been like at Salford. The outside noise is just that; we'll work hard and it will show when we get out there."
A move to Hull also sees Bourouh reunite with Simon Grix, who previously coached him at Halifax.
"I've a good relationship with him and have done since we were together at Halifax. He tried to get me over earlier but I wanted to start fresh this year. He got a lot out of me at Halifax too."
