Ryan Andrews became the first Academy product to score six senior goals for Watford in more than 12 years last night.

The 20-year-old’s winner against Bristol City made him the first homegrown player to net half a dozen or more since Sean Murray, who achieved the feat during the 2011/12 season having made his debut in April 2011.

A total of 26 Academy players have made at least one senior appearance since Murray, and only three of them other than Andrews (Tobi Adeyemo, Britt Assombalonga and Tommie Hoban) have scored a goal for the club.

With 68 senior outings so far, Andrews is also the highest appearance maker to come out of the Academy since Murray, who ended up with 85.

Watford have won their last three home games by 1-0, something that has only ever happened six times in the club’s history

The most recent occurrence was in the 1977/78 season where Watford actually won four consecutive games by 1-0 between February 25, 1978, and March 25, 1978.

The other runs of three consecutive 1-0 home wins were in 1966, 1949 and 1924.

Tom Cleverley has extended his unbeaten run of home games since becoming head coach to 14, which moves him a step closer to the only Watford boss with a better start: John Goodall won his first 20 games back in 1903/04.

The 1-0 win over the Robins meant Watford stretched their unbeaten start at home this season to 10 games – the last time the Hornets went 11 unbeaten at Vicarage Road from the opening day was in 1982/83, when they went on to finish second in their first season in the old First Division.

The club record for unbeaten home games from the start of a season is held, unsurprisingly, by Goodall’s team who went undefeated for 19 games in 1903/04.

The six home clean sheets in 10 the first games is the equal fourth best in Watford history.

The best is seven clean sheets in the first 10, which was achieved in 1899/00, 1924/25 and 1968/69.

Watford have accumulated 22 points from their first eight home league games, which is the fourth best in their history, equal with the 2000/01 season.

There have been three occasions in their history when they have achieved a maximum 24 points from the first eight home league games (assuming three points for a win: 1899/00, 1903/04 and 1931/32.

In fact, in those days there were only two points for a win so this season has seen the equal highest number of points for the first eight home league games of a season since three points for a win was introduced in 1981.
