Ange bullishly puts Kevin Muscat suitors in their place and insists Rangers nearly man will be choosy
Bullish Ange Postecoglou has warned Shanghai Port boss Kevin Muscat he shouldn't rush to make a move to Europe after missing out on the Rangers job last year
The Australian was in the mix to land on the Ibrox hot seat last year after Michael Beale was shown the door and held talks with the Scottish Premiership giants after winning the J-League in 2022 and finishing second in 2023 Yokohama F. Marinos. However, the club opted to go for Philippe Clement - who himself is facing pressure with the Light Blues trailing both Aberdeen and Celtic in the race for the title.
And after Muscat led his side to the Chinese Super League title speculation has ramped up that the former Rangers midfielder could follow in the footsteps of the Tottenham boss and make his mark on Europe. Muscat's only spell in dugout on this continent during an ill-fated six month spell with Belgian minnows Sint-Truidense.

However, the former Celtic boss believes that Muscat has the power after lifting trophies in Australia, Japan and China. Postecoglou told ESPN: "I've got no doubt [Muscat would be a success in Europe]. With a lot of things, it's about what experience teaches you.
"Musky probably understands that better now: that it's not just about taking that opportunity. You've got to make sure it's the right one for [you]. I think he's got enough runs on the board now where he can be fairly selective about what he does next and I think that's the most important thing. I've got no doubt if and when he gets over across the Europe, he'll be successful.
"People are very dismissive of success that doesn't occur in their own backyard, particularly here in Europe. They're very Eurocentric.
"But winning a title in Asia is just as difficult as winning a title in Holland, in Belgium, or anywhere else. And he's got a track record of success now in three countries. No doubt that can transfer here."
