Ange Postecoglou has revealed that Tottenham captain Son Heung-min will not be back from injury to face Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Spurs were in action against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League on Thursday night with Son sitting out of the clash as Postecoglou stated before the match that the 32-year-old was "a bit sore" following the 4-1 win over West Ham last weekend.

"Sonny was a bit sore after the weekend, he was never going to be involved tomorrow anyway because he missed a bit," Postecoglou told reporters.

"So we're leaving him out tomorrow and see how he is."

However, ahead of the game at Selhurst Park on Sunday, Postecoglou says that Son is unlikely to make a comeback, leaving a dilemma for the manager in attack.

"Sonny still not right or feeling 100%," Postecoglou told reporters. "He won't train today and [is] unlikely for the weekend."

Postecoglou made a number of changes from Spurs' game against West Ham for the win over Alkmaar, with an entirely new attack. Timo Werner began on the left wing in Son's usual place, but failed to impress and was withdrawn at half-time.

Brennan Johnson replaced him and moved to the right wing, with teenager Mikey Moore hugely impressing as he switched to the left, leaving Postecoglou with an interesting decision to make for Sunday.

However, while Postecoglou was pleased with the 17-year-old, he admitted after the match that they would be proceeding in a cautious manner in regards to his game time.

"It's pretty hard for me to keep a lid on it now ain’t it?! He was exciting. You cannot deny it. There is no point denying it," Postecoglou said. "I love the way Mikey is taking all in his stride, he works hard every day. He wants to develop, he understands that this is a journey.

"It's very easy for a young guy like him, who has just turned 17, to feel like he has somehow made it, but you never get that sense. It's exciting, it is. You have got such a young player, who wants that responsibility to make an impact, rather than just sometimes with young players they are a bit worried about making mistakes. He is developing well.

"We have to be really careful about how we use him, and when we use him, that is the key for us, particularly in these early stages. I have no fear throwing him in, absolutely not. I know and I see it every day, he's a great young player and definitely more to come."
