Ange Postecoglou handed severe warning by ex-Tottenham star if they hand Arsenal title

Ange Postecoglou has been warned he'll "get it" from Tottenham fans if his side thwart Manchester City and help Arsenal to Premier League glory.

The stakes are high at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with City needing a win to maintain control of their title fate. Meanwhile, Spurs must secure victory to keep their slim Champions League aspirations alive.

The thought of the Lilywhites aiding arch-rivals Arsenal is a bitter pill for their supporters, some of whom have declared they'll be backing City for the clash. Ex-Spurs player Jamie O'Hara expressed his concerns on talkSPORT, where he and Ally McCoist discussed the potential backlash against Postecoglou.

McCoist questioned the fan reaction, saying: "You're telling me the Spurs fans are going to turn on Ange if they win tonight?" O'Hara responded: "Big Ange is getting it if we go 1-0 up tonight, he's getting it. Ange, sort yourself out pal, this isn't Celtic vs Rangers. This is Tottenham-Arsenal."

O'Hara shared his dread of facing gloating Arsenal fans: "I'm not going on [talkSPORT show] the Sports Bar for the next three months having to deal with Arsenal fans piping up every five minutes saying how they've won the league and we handed them the title."

Even with a win over Pep Guardiola's squad, Spurs would still trail fourth-place Aston Villa by two points, meaning they'd need a favour from Villa's last opponents of the season, Crystal Palace, the Mirror report.

O'Hara has come to terms with the possibility of missing out on the Champions League, stating: "Because you know what will happen, we'll win tonight and then Aston Villa, they'll go and beat Crystal Palace and we'll finish fifth anyway. Just sums Spurs up.

"We've had the Champions League, I can suffer another season. All banter aside, I don't think the team's ready for the Champions League.

"Look at Newcastle and Manchester United this season, they absolutely flopped and finished bottom, and they were out of Europe completely. I'm quite happy to play Paco Rabanne and Ferrero Roche in the Europa League and maybe win a trophy.

Needless to say, Postecoglou will be going all out for victory on Tuesday. Speaking ahead of the game, the defiant Aussie said: "If other people want to treat it that way, that they get pleasure from other people’s misery, that’s not how I’ve lived my life and how I perceive my role.

"My role is to bring success to this football club and whatever proportion, whether it's his two mates or 99% of people you know. I know 100% of Spurs supporters want us to win, be successful and win trophies.

"That is without a shadow of a doubt and us winning [again City] will help us bring joy to 100 per cent of Spurs supporters."
