Antonio Conte believes the “right spirit” can help Tottenham overcome “difficult situations” between now and the end of the season.

Spurs ended a miserable week for the club with a 3-1 home win over Nottingham Forest to move six points clear of fifth-placed Liverpool and tighten their trip on fourth spot in the Premier League.

Harry Kane scored twice before Heung-min Son wrapped up the three points, albeit Fraser Forster was forced into a late penalty save to keep the scoreline comfortable.

Joe Worrall had pulled one back for the away side before Dejan Kulusevski handled in the box late on, though Forster ultimately denied Andre Ayew.

Conte, who had been downbeat about his future even between now and the end of the season following Wednesday night’s Champions League exit at the hands of AC Milan, struck a more positive note following Saturday’s win.

“I’m happy for the response of the whole team, the desire to help each other,” he said.

“I always say to you, to create a winning mentality is to have players and sign players but at the same time I think it’s more important to create the spirit.

“The right spirit help you to overcome difficult situations.

“If you are a team in every circumstance. you are stronger instead of 11 single players.

“We are working a lot to try to build the right mentality. I know very well that before to arrive at the end of this path you have to work.”

The Italian, however, is still expected to leave once his contract expires this summer.
