Arne Slot has some homework to do during the international break as he heads back home to spend time with his family.

The Liverpool boss has some time to reflect on what has been a sensational start to his time at Anfield as his players head off on international duty over the next week or so. The Reds signed off from their domestic commitments in style as they increased their lead at the top of the Premier League on Saturday.

Having watched Manchester City slip up again at Brighton, Liverpool capitalized with a 2-0 win over Aston Villa thanks to goals from Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah. The Reds now sit five points ahead of Pep Guardiola’s side, with a meeting with the defending champions just on the horizon.

Before then though, Slot will take some time out to visit his family back in the Netherlands. His wife Mirjam, son Joep and daughter Isa have stayed back in their homeland while Slot has been getting accustomed to life on Merseyside.

If Slot was hoping for a relaxing couple of weeks though, his children will make sure to keep him busy.

“Now the thing is that my children are in exam week, so I maybe have to help them over there – although my daughter is at a level where I probably can’t help her anymore!” Slot told the BBC’s Match of the Day on Saturday.

“Apart from that, I’m going to go back to the family, and that’s something I enjoy a lot as well.”

Slot will be keeping his fingers crossed that his players come back from international duty intact, having been dealt another injury blow during the win over Villa. Trent Alexander-Arnold was forced off during the first half with what looked to be a hamstring injury.

Diogo Jota, Federico Chiesa, Harvey Elliott and Alisson Becker all remain out at the moment, although all four should hopefully be able to return soon after the break, with Alisson seen watching on at Anfield on Saturday.

Liverpool.com says: Let’s hope Slot’s kids aren’t revising for anything too difficult – we don’t want the Liverpool boss being worked too hard! Best of luck to them in their exams, and hopefully Slot can continue celebrating off the pitch as well as on it.
