Arne Slot sends clear Mohamed Salah message after Liverpool contract comments
Arne Slot has spoken out following Mohamed Salah's recent comments about his contract situation, insisting that neither he nor the player are getting distracted.
Salah revealed following Sunday’s win over Southampton – in which he scored twice to held the Reds come from behind – that he is still waiting to receive a new contract offer from the club. The Egyptian’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season, and he will be free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club in January.
"Well, we are almost in December and I haven't received any offers yet to stay in the club, [so] I'm probably more out than in," Salah admitted to reporters.

"You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end it is not in my hands. As I said before, it is December and I haven't received anything yet about my future.”
Many Liverpool fans have been directing their anger toward FSG following Salah’s revelation, although former defender Jamie Carragher slammed the 32-year-old for the timing of his comments, branding him ‘selfish’ for choosing to speak out in the build-up to crucial games against Real Madrid and Manchester City.
Speaking during his press conference ahead of the first of those games, Slot was asked about Salah’s comments.
"People tell me about this, but I've said many times we don't share this here, at least I don't share this over here," Slot said.
"The only thing I can say is if I look at my line-ups, Mo is more in than out. That quote I can give you."
Asked whether the situation could be a distraction, Slot responded: "We want his numbers to be where they are at the moment because those are the numbers Mo has always had and still has.
"I don't think he's distracted at all, I haven't seen that after the United game when he had some comments, I haven't seen it after a post you told me about, afterwards he just kept on scoring.
"I didn't see anything today, he's just focused on the game tomorrow, and I think these kind of things are inside here and the media, and all the fans talk about it, which is completely normal, but if you were at the AXA today, I don't think any player talked about it, at least when I was there.
"Players are focused on the short term, and that's Madrid and City. I don't think there's any distraction at all for him, or the players, and definitely not for me."
