Arsenal are at risk of facing Real Madrid in the Champions League knockout play-offs according to the latest Supercomputer simulation.

The Gunners fell to their first Champions League defeat of the season on Wednesday night as Inter secured a 1-0 victory at the San Siro. Hakan Calhanoglu scored the only goal of the game in first-half stoppage time from the penalty spot as the Italians secured the three points.

Mikel Arteta's side had chances in the second half to equalise but Gabriel Magalhaes and Kai Havertz were both denied. Halfway through the league phase, Arsenal sit 12th with clashes against Sporting, AS Monaco, Dinamo Zagreb and Girona still to come.

Casino Hawks has run their latest supercomputer following Matchday Four in the Champions League and it makes for pretty bleak reading for Arsenal fans. Their system, which makes predictions based on a team's strength and current betting odds, believes the Gunners will end the league phase 16th, requiring them to need the play-offs to progress to the round of 16.

Fortunately, they would be seeded for the play-off draw which hands them the slight advantage of playing the second leg of the tie at home. But, that means they could face Carlo Ancelotti's serial winners Real Madrid in the play-offs as they are predicted to finish 17th.

Take a look at where teams will be ranked according to the Supercomputer at the end of the Champions League league phase below.
