Arsenal set for sensational double Ethan Nwaneri transfer boost as January chance finally clear
This time for Arsenal, it was a positive international break. There were very few fears entering the two weeks away from club football after Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka pulled out of England duty, whilst Martin Odegaard wasn't selected for Norway.
The freedom and relief that this news brings was all clear to see on Saturday afternoon as they put in arguably the most all-round performance of the Premier League season to date. Hindsight says that Nottingham Forest were poor (they were) and are reverting more to expectation after also losing to Newcastle. However, the reality was that Arsenal were winless in four, posed with a tricky task upon their return.
None of the threat on paper played out, though, and Odegaard linked with Saka to lead Arsenal to an easy 3-0 win. It was the sort of cruise-control display that can go under the radar but has been much needed in a season of turbulence at every corner for the Gunners.

Here, football.london has a roundup and look at the latest news around the club.
Saka and Nwaneri contract talk
Arsenal are being proactive in their approach to tying both Bukayo Saka and Ethan Nwaneri down to new contracts, according to reports. It is suggested that the club are wary of Saka, in particular, entering the final two years of his deal next summer even though he signed fresh terms in May 2023.
As for Nwaneri, he turns 18 in March and has continued to prove himself at senior level after permanently making himself a member of Arteta's side. Arsenal have been able to agree new deals for all of their best players over the past few seasons in a bid to future proof themselves from outside interest.
football.london says: This is not something to joke about. Arsenal are making a good choice in opening conversations early with these two, just ask Liverpool.
Football is so unpredictable. Anything can impact contract talks and the chances of things being wrapped up smoothly, so getting ahead of the game is smart. It makes players feel wanted and there isn't any doubt right now that both Saka and Nwaneri are key to what is to come as well as what is currently being produced at the Emirates Stadium.
Isak January possibility
Not for the first time, Arsenal are linked with making a move for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak in January. It is said that as they look to bolster their options up front, the in-form front man remains a target.
Isak is reportedly in a position to consider a move as well despite being a favourite at St James' Park. It is claimed that his desire to play in the Champions League would outweigh financial goals, even if Arsenal would be able to offer a pay rise of up to £200,000-a-week.
football.london says: This is the same old story when it comes to Isak. Newcastle want a shed load of cash for him - some now say up to £120million - and Arsenal would be all the better for signing him. The issue is that it is a lot of money and, especially mid-season, this sort of deal is just highly unlikely.
Isak is back in the goals for Eddie Howe after a slow start, which is a good thing, but only goes to show why it was such a shame that Arsenal couldn't get him over the summer. He is one of the world's best forwards without doubt and would propel Arsenal even further.
If there is even a sniff of him being available it needs to be fully explored and properly considered.
