Erling Haaland is reportedly 'interested' in a potential move to Real Madrid as Arsenal watch on.

Haaland, 24, has taken the Premier League by storm since arriving at Manchester City in May 2022. The Norwegian star has scored 73 top-flight goals in English football and has also won two Premier League medals, the Champions League and the FA Cup during his time at the Etihad Stadium.

The 24-year-old has been a thorn in Arsenal's side over the past few seasons. Mikel Arteta's team have been City's closest challenger, at least domestically, over the past two seasons.

But Haaland has proven to be a major obstacle when it comes to Arsenal winning their first league title since 2004. The striker has scored three goals and provided two assists against the Gunners during his time in England.

Arsenal have already been on the receiving end of Haaland's goal-scoring brilliance this season, with the Norway star netting City's first goal during September's 2-2 draw at the Etihad Stadium. Arteta's side now find themselves three points behind the reigning champions ahead of Sunday's clash at home to leaders Liverpool.

However, those in north London may soon be able to breath a sigh of relief if transfer claims in Spain become a reality. Mundo Deportivo have claimed that there is 'mutual interest' between Haaland and European champions Madrid - mooted as long-term suitors.

The report adds the Spanish giants could try their luck next summer, while City are said to have Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres on their list as his potential replacement. Haaland's contract is said to have a £125million (€150m) release clause despite it expiring in 2027.

If Haaland were to complete a transfer to the La Liga giants, it could very well open the door for Arsenal to end City's Premier League dominance. The Gunners finished just two points behind Pep Guardiola's side last term, but without Haaland the trophy could have easily headed to north London instead.
