Bukayo Saka shares Mikel Arteta’s confidence that he will sign a new contract with Arsenal.

Saka, who came through the club’s academy, is into the final two years of his current deal at Arsenal and the Gunners want to tie him down to fresh terms.

Speaking earlier this month, Arteta spoke positively about negotiations and said he was confident of finding an agreement. When asked if he shared that confidence, Saka said: “Yes, I share his confidence.”

Pressed if that meant in the near future, the winger replied: “I share that confidence, that is it!”

As reported by Standard Sport in June, tying Saka down to fresh terms is a priority for Arsenal this summer, with Arteta saying earlier this year that the 20-year-old has the “Arsenal DNA”.

And asked if he feels at home at the club, Saka said: “Yeah, I do. I really feel the love from my team-mates, my coaches and the fans as well. So yeah, I really feel loved here.”

Arsenal have made a dream start to this season, winning all four of their games to sit top of the Premier League ahead of their clash with Aston Villa on Wednesday.

"It is a perfect start, we can’t say anything other than that,” said Saka.

“But we know how difficult it is and we’re definitely focused on Villa now – we need to come back here Wednesday, we are looking forward to playing in front of our fans again and hopefully we can win.

“I think I’m growing, going from strength to strength each game and I think Fulham was my best game yet and I want to kick on from that now.

“I feel like of course there’s still aspects where I need to improve and learn and each game I learn which positions I could have been, where I could have been to score, why I didn’t get a certain amount of shots or crosses and stuff like this. I watch and reflect on my games to try and improve.”

Part of the reason behind Arsenal’s bright start has been the signing of Gabriel Jesus, who has shone since joining from Manchester City for £45million.

“He brings a lot to the team and we’re happy to have him, he’s brilliant with goals, assists, he’s bringing movement, he’s bringing everyone into play and he is a top player,” said Saka.

“As long as we’re winning, anyone can score and I’m happy!”

Saka has not hit the heights of Jesus so far, with the winger suffering from defenders doubling up on him and opposition players targeting him with heavy challenges.

“Football is football and I just have to get on with it,” he said.

“Of course, sometimes it’s not nice but it is what is and it’s part of my game and if I’m going to want to dribble past players and stuff like this, I’m going to get kicked sometimes but I have to get on with it.”
