Arsenal continue to chase Manchester City in their bid for a first Premier League title since 2004.

The Gunners earned a 2-2 draw against Pep Guardiola's team on Sunday having been moments away from a significant victory. Arsenal played much of the second half with 10 men but were unable to hang on for their first win at City since January 2015.

Sunday's draw means that Mikel Arteta's side remain two points behind the reigning champions with plenty of games left to displace City and clinch a long-awaited league title. But Arsenal's season has not been without controversy so far.

Declan Rice was sent off in controversial circumstances during Arsenal's 1-1 draw at home to Brighton last month. The midfielder was shown a second yellow card in the second half for not retreating for a Brighton free-kick.

Another moment of contention came on Sunday when Leandro Trossard was shown a second yellow just seconds before halftime against City. The 29-year-old was dismissed after kicking the ball away following a foul on Bernardo Silva.

Both sending-offs for Arsenal came as a result of players delaying the restart. To rub salt in the Gunners' wounds, City winger Jeremy Doku also appeared to delay the restart on Sunday after kicking the ball away in a separate incident, but the Belgian was not booked by referee Michael Oliver.

And after football.london asked readers if the Gunners were being treated unfairly by referees, the verdict was almost unanimous. Of the 3,535 people to vote in football.london's poll, a staggering 91 percent of people voted 'yes' (3,205). Just nine per cent of voters said 'no' (330).

When asked on Sunday if the threshold for second yellow card is too low, Arteta said: "I prefer not to comment. You analyse the situation and how long it takes."

On Trossard's sending off, he added: "I prefer not to comment. I've seen it and it's that obvious so I'll leave it to you guys. I was already in big trouble trying to solve what happened on the pitch. It's not my problem to solve what happens off the pitch."
