Aston Villa injury update as four players face fitness race for Crystal Palace
Aston Villa midfielders Boubacar Kamara and Jacob Ramsey are set to be sidelined with respective hamstring injuries over the next couple of weeks - and the pair are now in a race against time to ensure they return in time for Villa's return to action later this month.
Both Kamara and Ramsey suffered their problems in the 2-0 defeat at Liverpool on Saturday night; Kamara himself was introduced for Amadou Onana in the second half of the game before pulling up and, although he completed the game, Unai Emery confirmed post match that the Frenchman - only recently back from an extensive lay-off - had some discomfort.
Ramsey, who has had his own injury issues in the last 18 months, was forced off in the second half, unable to continue. Both players, according to the Athletic, are now likely to be unable to train during this international break - which might now be considered timely - and, with Crystal Palace, Juventus and Chelsea awaiting on the other side of this fortnight, fingers might now be crossed in the hope that the pair return.

"Hamstring. He [Ramsey] was feeling something. Kamara as well he felt something on a run back he did," Emery said of the pair after the Anfield defeat. "Of course, we are playing a lot of matches, but Ramsey didn’t play on Wednesday, but they [players] are always at risk of injuries.
"We have to accept it. They are injured now, Ramsey, hopefully not Kamara. They are coming back for the next match, hopefully Cash and Ross Barkley."
