Aston Villa have been linked with a move for Southampton talent Tyler Dibling. The teenager broke onto the first-team scene last season under Russell Martin, as the Saints secured an instant return to the Premier League after relegation the previous season. This year, Dibling has been a fixture in the match-day squad.

Despite Southampton's collective struggles - they currently find themselves bottom of the table with only one victory in their first 11 matches and four points adrift of safety - Dibling has impressed in the starting XI and from the bench. He scored in the 1-1 draw with fellow promoted side Ipswich Town earlier this season and has become an England under 19 regular.

It's form which has led to plenty of speculation about Dibling's long-term future, with a number of clubs - including some of the biggest around Europe - linked with moves for the playmaker, who has left Southampton once before already, only to U-turn after initially joining Chelsea. Newcastle have been interested previously, as well as sides in the Bundesliga.

Martin said recently: "When you're 18 and you play in the Premier League to the level he's played at, I think every club in the world probably looks at you. He's ours. The club has turned down bids for him since I've been here. The speculation is nothing for him or for me. We are in a strong position. I'm sure we will look at securing that and strengthening that even more because if he carries on doing what he's doing then he will deserve that.”

It's claimed that Southampton are set to offer a new extended deal to Dibling, in the hope that he will commit his future irrespective of how their season pans out. Villa, though, have been linked and could pursue a move at the end of this season. They have Leon Bailey as a natural winger, and Morgan Rogers playing in an advanced role through the middle, currently but it's likely that Unai Emery will seek to expand those options.

Villa were busy in the summer reducing the average age of the squad and brought in the likes of Jaden Philogene and Ian Maatsen, while Rogers, Kosta Nedeljkovic and Jhon Duran have been added in recent windows, too. They've begun - and are continuing - to build a young squad, sprinkled with experience, by recruiting targets who fit the profile of Dibling.
