Aston Villa monitor Man United star ahead of big Ruben Amorim decision
Aston Villa are said to be interested in a surprise move for Manchester United defender Harry Amass.
The 17-year-old joined United from Watford in August 2023 and spent most of last season in the Under 18s and Under 21s. Amass was called up to train with the first-team in February and made the matchday squad for the first time against Liverpool in April but remained an unused substitute.
Amass was a regular in the United squad throughout the back end of the campaign but didn't end up making his senior debut. However, the London-born left-back impressed during United's pre-season tour of the United States and there was optimism that he could be handed more opportunities this season.

Injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia had boosted his chances of getting a run in the team, but Erik ten Hag instead snubbed Amass and decided to play either Diogo Dalot or Lisandro Martinez at left-back. Ruud van Nistelrooy also chose against using Amass during his time as interim head coach.
Ruben Amorim could decide to hand Amass his United debut and give him a chance to shine, but the teenager has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford. According to TEAMtalk, Villa are monitoring his situation and could be keen to try to sign him after losing out to United for his signature in 2023.
Amass is under contract until 2027 and United would not welcome any interest in the youngster, but Villa want to try to lure him to Villa Park. It's added that United are actively looking at strengthening at left-back which could impact Amass and his chances of breaking into the first-team fold.
