Ben Johnson Rangers transfer snub as West Ham defender 'set' for Premier League switch

Ben Johnson is poised to reject Rangers and instead opt to join Crystal Palace, according to a report.

The West Ham right-back was on Philippe Clement's radar and is available on a free transfer with his contract in its final three months. It had been reported that the Belgian boss had opened talks with the 24-year-old with a view to adding him to his squad amid doubts around James Tavernier's future.

But Gers could be about to be left disappointed with the Daily Record reporting Johnson is about to choose Crystal Palace. There was also interest from Leeds while Wolves had a £1million bid rejected in January, but the former England under-21s star looks set to stay in the Premier League with the Eagles.

Johnson would become Oliver Glasner's first signing after the former Eintracht Frankfurt boss, who broke Rangers' hearts in 2022, had a good start at the club.

They recently splashed £7million Colombian right back Daniel Munoz but still want to strengthen with the free transfer signing of Johnson.

He fell down the pecking order at West Ham and is behind Vladimir Coufal and it has been reported the Irons wouldn't match his wage demands.
