Will he stay or will he go? Big questions have been raised about Junior Firpo's Leeds United future. His present Whites deal runs out next summer.

There is no sign yet of Firpo extending his United stay. The left-back, a first team regular this season, will be able to sign pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs from January 1.

A report in Turkish outlet Fotospor states Besiktas have expressed an interest in Firpo ahead of the transfer window reopening next month. The Super Lig side are reportedly keen on bringing in a left sided defender in the New Year and the Dominican Republic international is said to be on their radar. Speculation linking Besiktas with a move for Firpo comes on the back of a string of poor performances from full-back Artur Masuaku.

But speaking ahead of the Whites' encounter with Middlesbrough this evening, manager Daniel Farke confirmed Firpo is expected to be out of action for four to six weeks after suffering a hamstring injury in Saturday's 2-0 win over Derby County. It is a big for United as Firpo has nailed down the left back spot in 2024.

Firpo has started 15 times in the Championship, scoring once and weighing in with three assists. The 28-year-old was slapped with a three-match suspension for violent conduct following a headbutt on Millwall player Danny McNamara last month, ruling him out of fixtures against Queens Park Rangers, Swansea City and Luton Town. The flashpoint in the dying embers of the clash at The Den was not spotted by match officials but was picked up on camera and Firpo was hit with a retrospective ban by the Football Association.
