Bethany High looks to make 28 Olympics

Apr. 2—THOMASVILLE — When an old family friend took her out to his land for some shooting practice when she was 15, Bethany High had no idea that blasting clay pigeons out of the sky would lead her to take on the world.

"Just the adrenaline rush of it and the comradely of it still being an individual sport, but you still are around other people who also enjoy doing," said High about why she loves clay shooting. "Just learning and being able to travel."

High has been taking clay shooting seriously since she was 15 years old and shot at the collegiate level at Emmanuel College. High is now attempting to make the USA Olympic team.

High is no stranger to the USA clay shooting team. She has been a member of the team twice before and medaled in the Junior World Championships. She competed in the USA 2024 Olympic trials recently, but missed the mark. Despite this, High remains motivated to make the team for the 2028 games, which will be held in Los Angeles, California.
