Today's random journey into the nostalgia books remembers a time when Birmingham City announced their arrival back in the top flight with a 3-0 victory over fierce rivals Aston Villa at St Andrew's.

It was back on the evening of September 16 2002 that Steve Bruce's Blues stunned Graham Taylor's Villa, thanks to a helping hand, or rather foot, from Peter Enckelman.

The Villa goalkeeper's embarrassing own goal when he let Olof Mellberg's throw trickle in off his studs summed up a miserable evening for Villa.

For Blues, however, who were already leading through Clinton Morrison's 31 st minute opener before Enckelman 77th minute blunder, it was a night of celebration especially when Geoff Horsfield added an 83rd minute third.

Here are the photographs from that night.
