Birmingham City set for ambitious January transfer swoop for former England international
Birmingham City are reportedly lining up a spectacular move for one of their former players this January transfer window as they look to secure immediate promotion back to the Championship.
Blues are said to be looking to add to their summer statement signings such as Jay Stansfield and Alfie May with former City man Nathan Redmond, who has been linked with a loan move back to St Andrews.
Redmond came through Blues' youth academy and played for the senior side between 2010 and 2013 before departing for Norwich City in the Premier League.
The 30-year-old is now at Burnley where he has not played since a 1-0 Premier League loss to Tottenham Hotspur in January due to injury and undergoing surgery. He appeared in an Under-21s fixture last month but is still yet to appear for Scott Parker's Clarets this season and, with Burnley boasting strength in the wide areas, Redmond would struggle to get back into the team.

According to Alan Nixon, a loan deal for the winger is on the cards for Chris Davies' Blues which could make for a fairytale revival for the former Southampton man's career.
The club have reportedly made the funds available to bring in Redmond as they look to regain Championship status and a wage-only loan move could suit all parties.
The Birmingham-born player gained his first and only England cap back in 2017 in a World Cup qualifying fixture against Germany in which he came off the bench to replace Adam Lallana.
