Blues on loan: Harness draws, Edmundson beaten and Humphreys out of the cup

Ross Halls takes look at how Ipswich Town players got on for their loan clubs this midweek.

 

 

GEORGE EDMUNDSON

The defender featured for Middlesbrough as they were beaten 3-1 at Leeds United, who went top of the Championship.

Edmundson played 90 minutes and was booked for Michael Carrick's side, who dropped down to sixth in the table.

The Boro will look to bounce back when they host Millwall, who will have Neil Harris taking charge of his last game on Saturday, after stepping down as manager.

MARCUS HARNESS

The attacker featured for Derby County as they held Burnley to a goalless draw at Turf Moor in the second tier.

Harness came on as a 59th-minute sub and came close to scoring late on for Paul Warne's side, who are now without a league win for six games.

The Rams will look to bounce back when they host Portsmouth on Friday evening.

CAMERON HUMPHREYS

The midfielder featured for Wycombe Wanderers as they were knocked out of the EFL Trophy after losing 2-1 at home to ten-man Swindon Town in the round of 32.

Humphreys came on as a 70th-minute sub for Matt Bloomfield's side, who was taking charge of his 100th game for the Chairboys.

They will switch their focus back to League One action as they travel to Shrewsbury Town on Saturday.

 

 

FINLEY BARBROOK

The young midfielder featured for Sutton United as they played out a goalless draw at Halifax Town in the National League.

Barbrook played the full 90 minutes for Steve Morison's side, who are now four games unbeaten in the league and moved into the play-off spots.

The U's return to action when they travel to Altrincham on Saturday.

LEON AYINDE 

The Irishman wasn't involved for Rochdale as progressed to the fourth round of the FA Trophy with a 2-0 win at Leamington.

Ayinde hasn't played for Jimmy McNulty's side since October after he suffered a hamstring injury, although he has recently joined back up with the Dale to train.

They return to league action when they travel Dagenham on Saturday.

NICO VALENTINE

The youngster wasn't in action for Needham Market as they progressed to the semi-finals of the Suffolk Cup after beating Ipswich Wanderers.

Valentine is still working his way back from a hamstring injury for Kevin Horlock's side, who penalties to reach the final four following a goalless draw.

The Marketmen switch their focus back to league action when they travel to Southport on Saturday.

 

 

EX-BLUES CORNER

Rakeem Harper netted a 92nd minute winner for Port Vale as they secured a place in the round of 16 in the EFL Trophy after winning 1-0 at Doncaster Rovers.

Tyreece Simpson was among the scorers for Stevenage as they won 4-0 at Burton Albion to progress to the next round of the EFL Trophy.

Armando Dobra opened the scoring for Chesterfield as they beat Wigan Athletic 3-2 at home to reach the last 16 of the EFL Trophy.

Joe Garner was among the scorers for Oldham Athletic as they beat Blackburn Rovers U21 in in the National League Cup.
