Blues on loan: 'A level above' - Barbrook nets first senior goal and earns praise

A look at how Ipswich Town players got on for their loan clubs this weekend.

 

 

FINLEY BARBROOK AND EDWIN AGBAJE

Barbrook featured and scored for Sutton United as they beat Maidenhead United 1-0 at home in the National League.

The young midfielder drilled a low shot in the bottom corner to net the only goal of the game for his first senior goal and was voted man of the match for his performance.

He was also praised by the U's manager Steve Morrison, who said: "He looked a level above.

"He was excellent, his goal was fantastic and yeah, very pleased for him because he does graft. He show's why he's at the level that he is at Ipswich and it shows why they think so highly of him."

Fellow Town youngster Agbage has returned to Town in order to have some rehab on his hamstring after he pulled up in last week's game at Rochdale. He has struggled with the same problem throughout this season so far.

The U's sit 11th in the fifth tier and return to action when they travel to Halifax Town next Saturday.

ELKAN BAGGOTT 

The defender didn't feature for Blackpool as they were held to a goalless draw with Northampton Town in League One.

Baggott has suffered a fresh injury blow, having only returned to action this month due to an ankle injury he sustained in August, but is now facing some more time on the sidelines.

“Unfortunately he’s done his thigh,” Blackpool boss Steve Bruce told the Blackpool Gazette last week.

"I would expect it to be a month at least, that’s the minimum. He’s a young player so we’ve just got to look after him because he’ll be hugely disappointed."

He has been restricted to just four appearances for the Tangerines, who 18th in the third tier and return to action when they travel to Bolton Wanderers next Saturday.

 

 

OSMAN FOYO AND WOODY WILLIAMSON

Foyo featured for Chelmsford City as they lost 2-0 at Peterborough Sports in the second round of the FA Trophy.

Williamson wasn't involved due to winning his tenth cap for Scotland U19s as the goalkeeper kept a clean sheet in their 4-0 win over Liechtenstein in a Euro 2025 mini-group game.

Robbie Simpson's side switch their focus back to league action as they travel to Worthing next Saturday in the National League South.

LEON AYINDE

The young forward wasn't involved for Rochdale as they lost 2-0 at Wealdstone in the fifth tier.

Ayinde has been out of action for Jimmy McNulty's side for a month now, but looks set to back in training and playing games.

The Dale are sixth in the table and host Oldham Athletic next Saturday.

NICO VALENTINE

The youngster wasn't involved for Needham Market as they were knocked out of the FA Trophy after losing 3-2 at Alfreton Town in the second round.

Valentine is currently out of action due to a hamstring injury. Kevin Horlock's side saw former Town academy youngster Luke Ingram become their all-time leading goalscorer after netting a late penalty.

The Marketmen return to league action as they travel to Marine next Saturday in the National League North.

CHARLIE BINNS

The young goalkeeper didn't feature for Bishop's Stortford as they won 3-1 at Spalding United in Southern League Premier Central.

Binns is out of action for Steve Castle's side after breaking his finger last week, he is likely to return to action in the new year.

The Blues return to action when they host Barwell next Saturday.

RYAN CARR

The young midfielder didn't feature for Gateshead as they were held to a 2-2 draw with Aldershot Town in the fifth tier.

Carr wasn't in the matchday squad for Carl Magnay's side, who dropped down to fifth in the table.

The Tynesiders return to action when they travel to Maidenhead United next Saturday.

OTHER PLAYERS

George Edmundson, Marcus Harness and Cameron Humphreys weren't in action for Middlesbrough, Derby County and Wycombe Wanderers respectively due to the international break.

Harry Barbrook didn't have a game due to Lowestoft Town not having a league fixture.

EX-BLUES CORNER

Louie Barry scored for Stockport County as they beat Wrexham 1-0 at home in the League One. The Aston Villa loanee has 12 goals in 17 games in all competitions this season.

Joe Pigott opened the scoring for AFC Wimbledon as they won 3-1 at Barrow in League Two.

Ellis Harrison was among the scorers for MK Dons as they beat Cheltenham Town 3-2 at home in the fourth tier.

James Norwood netted a first-half hat-trick for Oldham as they thumped Tamworth 4-0 at Boundary Park in the fifth tier. The forward has now got six goals to his name this season.

Matt Ward scored a screamer for Woking as they secured a 1-0 home victory over Boston United in the fifth tier.
