Brendan Rodgers laughs off unseen Celtic moment with 'wee Hearts guy who never stopped talking'

His side has just scored their third goal in a win that would open up at three-point gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership and Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers had a little exchange with a Hearts punter.

Kyogo Furuhashi opened the scoring with Nicolas Kuhn adding a second just minutes later after a blistering counter-attack, but after Adam Idah coolly slotted in his side's third, Rodgers had finally silenced one of the Tynecastle faithful. The win ultimate took his side three clear of Aberdeen and 11 points above Rangers, leading to a cheeky dig on social media from the club, but a "wee guy" in the Gorgie stands shared a humourous moment with the Celtic boss.

The manager had apparently come in for a bit of stick throughout the match, with Hearts having the better of the first-half chances but failing to capitalise on their domiance. When Kyogo struck just before the hour mark though, the floodgates opened for the visitors as they ran away with it.

Speaking in his post-match media duties, Rodgers was asked about the punter behind him who was giving him an earful.

Did you have a bit of fun with a couple of the Hearts fans when that third goal went in, I think you'd been taking a wee bit of stick behind the dugout?

He responded:

There's a wee guy who never stopped talking the whole game. I always enjoy coming here. It's a great place to come and play. It's very intense. They want to win, absolutely. But unfortunately, so do we.

On the game itself, he added: "First half, I thought Hearts did well. They surprised us a little bit with the pressing structure. We had some good movements in the first half but our positioning wasn’t quite right, which meant we got caught on the ball a little bit more often than I would have liked.

“Once we went through that at half-time and figured it out and got our positioning better, then we were able to play through that press really well and score some fantastic goals.”
