Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has provided an update on Adam Idah's condition following a distressing challenge by Motherwell's Liam Gordon on the forward.

In a clash that saw the champions triumph without their injured captain Callum McGregor at Fir Park, Celtic eased to victory with goals from Luke McCowan, Alistair Johnston, and Adam Idah, which placed them above Aberdeen at the top of the Scottish Premiership table. Motherwell finished with 10 men after a VAR review escalated Gordon's initial yellow card to a red for his tackle on scorer Idah.

Idah, who is also an Ireland international, was visibly troubled by the incident as he hobbled through the rest of the match until full-time. Rodgers conveyed to Sky Sports that while the challenge wasn't ideal, he didn't believe there was any malicious intent from Gordon: "I think it felt a bit numb for him at first.

Obviously it's not a great challenge but I don't think the player has tried to hurt him. The problem is when you leave the ground, and then it rocked his ankle."

Rodgers continued, noting Idah's struggle after the event but mentioned some positive signs: "So, he was struggling a little bit after that. I think once he got moving he felt OK. We just have to see when he takes the boot off, but I'm sure there will be a little bit of swelling."
