Brendan Rodgers predicts how Celtic would perform in Premier League as boss quizzed on Hoops and Rangers debate

Brendan Rodgers insists Celtic would be a top six club at the very least if they moved to the English Premier League.

The Hoops boss was quizzed on the age old debate about how his club and Rangers would fare if pitched in with the big boys down south. The finances on offer to the clubs would skyrocket and there has always been a belief that with those added resources, the Glasgow sides would be able to kick on and compete.

Rodgers certainly feels that way and insists the remarkable following Celtic have around the world would be a factor too. He detailed how important it was to qualify for next season's Champions League because they don't have much opportunity to bring in serious cash domestically. And he feels having that added option by playing in England would be a game changer.

He told talkSPORT: "Well that's why the league was so important for us this year, especially with the new format (in the Champions League) being more financially rewarding than ever before, because it's the best opportunity the club can get to make substantial funds.

"Celtic and Rangers, and obviously I can only talk from a Celtic perspective, is an absolutely massive club worldwide. There's no doubt if Celtic was in the Premier League it would be up there, minimum, in that top six bracket.

"It's absolutely incredible. Wherever you go in the world, you will meet Celtic supporters. The fan base, the history of the club, that's what makes it a truly, truly massive club.
