Brendan Rodgers takes aim at Celtic Park leaks as insider told they do not support the club

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has hit out at leaked teamsheets, saying the unknown insider is not a fan of the club.

After their Premier Sports Cup semi-final demolition job of Aberdeen, there’s no doubt the Parkhead boss would be in high spirits but he took aim in his post-match presser at apparent leaks of his team that have been occurring recently. Daizen Maeda bagged a hat-trick, with goals also scored by, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Kyogo Furuhashi, and Nicolas Kuhn as they ended Jimmy Thelin’s Dons unbeaten domestic record in the match.

Rodgers made a very pointed claim about the mole, branding the leaker as actively "not helping" Celtic and not a fan of the club, as spilling this information will help their opposition should they get wind of the news. He also emphasised that the club “will do everything” to find the person responsible for this happening.

Rodgers said: “It might feel great for someone's ego to put it out and pass it on to other people, but I can tell you as a manager that I've had that before with other teams.

“And when I've got to know about it, it has really, really helped me in my preparation, because I've come up against a plan to play against a team, I've then been told the day before the game that the team was going to play a totally different shape.

“I could then stick in an extra meeting that night at the hotel to say, this is what we think that team's going to do because we've had a message.

“And then, lo and behold, we go in the next day and the team is playing that shape and it really helped us to win the game in a good way.

“So, whoever is putting it out, if it's someone from Celtic, you're not a Celtic supporter. You're not a Celtic supporter because you're not helping Celtic. It's as simple as that.

“If you're not a Celtic supporter, we will do everything we can to find out.”
