Brian Robinson injury update: Is Commanders RB playing in Week 11 'TNF' vs. Eagles?

The Washington Commanders are gearing up for a "Thursday Night Football" clash with the Philadelphia Eagles that will determine which team is in the driver's seat in the NFC East title race.

Initially, it wasn't clear whether the Commanders' top running back, Brian Robinson Jr., would be available for the Week 11 game.

Now, it appears that he will be ready to suit up for the Week 11 contest after missing two games with a hamstring injury.

Here's what to know about the third-year back's injury and status for the rivalry clash.

Brian Robinson injury update

Robinson is dealing with a hamstring injury that kept him out of Washington's Week 9 and 10 games against the New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers, respectively.

Originally, Robinson wasn't expected to miss time because of his injury. He practiced on a limited basis before the Giants game but was surprisingly rendered inactive after a pregame warmup.

Commanders coach Dan Quinn said it wasn't easy to hold Robinson out of action, but he wanted to make "the smart play" from a long-term standpoint.

"We're going to choose the more difficult right over the easier wrong," Quinn told reporters after Week 9. "There's a lot of season for him to play."

The Commanders once again held Robinson out in Week 10 after he was a non-participant in the team's Friday practice. Quinn outlined that the team took that action because they didn't believe Robinson was fully confident in his injured hamstring despite his efforts to return to the field as soon as possible.

"It's a fine balance for sure," Quinn said when assessing Robinson's goals. "I think at the end, you have to trust the player to find out where his confidence [is at]."

Robinson has now missed three games in 2024 due to injury. Two have been because of his balky hamstring, while a knee injury kept him sidelined in Week 6 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Is Brian Robinson playing Week 11?

Robinson is off the Commanders' injury report and will be able to play on "Thursday Night Football" against the Eagles. He was a full participant at Wednesday's practice, which Quinn told reporters would be key in determining Robinson's availability.

Washington initially listed Robinson as "limited" for Monday's practice, which was merely an estimated injury report, as the teams playing on "Thursday Night Football" don't practice on Monday.

On Tuesday, Quinn admitted the Commanders won't know whether Robinson has a chance to play until Wednesday.

"We won't really have the best sense until I visit with you tomorrow," Quinn told reporters before Tuesday's practice. "We'll go through more full-speed work tomorrow."

Evidently, the Commanders liked what they saw out of Robinson on Wednesday. He doesn't even have a "questionable" designation, so fantasy football managers can feel confident plugging him into their Week 11 lineups, albeit it in a tough matchup against a good Philadelphia run defense.
