Browns QB depth chart: Dorian Thompson-Robinson in after Deshaun Watson Achilles injury
Kevin Stefanski was adamant amid Deshaun Watson's struggles that the quarterback would remain atop the Cleveland Browns' quarterback depth chart.
Now, the Browns may have no choice but to replace Watson.
Watson suffered a serious-looking Achilles injury during the Browns' Week 7 matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals. After taking a snap, he attempted to step up and run forward, but his right leg gave out under him as he did.
The 29-year-old was carted off the field and appeared to be emotional as he headed back to the locker room, indicating he may be facing a long absence.
How will the Browns replace Watson? They have a couple of well-known signal-callers on their roster, though the backup position was thrown into flux in Week 7.

Who is the Browns backup quarterback?
Dorian Thompson-Robinson is the Browns' backup quarterback behind Watson. That role originally belonged to Jameis Winston for the first six weeks of the 2024 season, but Cleveland decided to make Thompson-Robinson the No. 2 quarterback entering Week 7.
The Browns selected Thompson-Robinson in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. The UCLA product won a spot on the Browns' 53-man roster as a rookie and made three starts for the team. He posted a 1-2 record and completed 53.6 percent of his passes for 440 yards, one touchdown, and four interceptions and ran for 65 yards on 14 carries.
Browns QB depth chart
The Browns had three healthy quarterbacks on their 53-man roster before Watson's injury. They are as follows:
Deshaun Watson
Dorian Thompson-Robinson
Jameis Winston
The Browns do not have another quarterback in the organization. They carried four during the 2024 offseason but released Tyler Huntley before the season, who is now the Miami Dolphins' starter in place of the injured Tua Tagovailoa.
