Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has expressed his frustration after their 1-1 draw with Chelsea.

The Portugal star broke the deadlock from the penalty spot in the second-half, after Rasmus Holjund was brought down by Robert Sanchez. However, their lead lasted a mere four minutes with Moises Caicedo restoring parity shortly after.

Chelsea denied United a first Premier League win in temporary charge for Ruud van Nistelrooy as the point left the Old Trafford outfit 13th in the table. Taking to Instagram, Fernandes hinted at his disappointment following Sunday's stalemate.

United are preparing for change at the helm with Ruben Amorim officially taking over next week. There are still two more opportunities for the Van Nistelrooy to hand over with momentum on United's side.

They host Greek side PAOK on Thursday before returning to the Theatre of Dreams to host strugglers Leicester City. The iconic United striker picked up his first win in caretaker charge when they brushed aside the Foxes in the Carabao Cup.

It came after Erik ten Hag's dismissal in light of their controversial 2-1 defeat away at West Ham United, last Sunday. Speaking to Sky Sports, Fernandes revealed that he had spoken to the Dutchman and apologised.

"It is not good for anyone at the club when the manager goes," he said. "You have to take some of the blame on yourself because it is the team that is not doing so well and it is easier to get rid of a manager than 15 players.

"I spoke to the manager and apologised. We are not scoring goals and I feel responsible. I normally score a lot of goals but I always give 100% and he is aware of that."
