Alejandro Garnacho didn't fully celebrate his goal for Manchester United against Leicester because he feels he has 'lost faith from some fans', according to Bruno Fernandes.

Garnacho started on the bench against Leicester but replaced Marcus Rashford before the hour mark and the youngster was responsible for killing the contest with a superb goal.

With just under 10 minutes to play, Garnacho finished brilliantly into the top right corner after some slick attacking play from United but he didn't celebrate with his usual gusto.

Fernandes discussed Garnacho's flat reaction in his post-match reference and said the 20-year-old feels he's lost the faith of some fans, which appeared to be a reference to a bizarre exchange between Garnacho and a fan that went viral on social media before the PAOK match.

In the footage, Garnacho was signing autographs for supporters as he arrived at Old Trafford and a fan said: "Are you going to pass better today? Score a goal and work on your first touch." Garnacho looked understandably annoyed and responded, "why are you not playing man?"

The person in the video has been slammed on social media for their exchange with Garnacho and Fernandes seemed to reference the clip when he discussed his celebration.

"It was a good day at work, I have to say. We have a lot of players with big qualities, but people can get too excited after one game and too down after another," Fernandes told BBC Sport.

"Garnacho scored a banger but didn't celebrate like he should because he thinks he has lost faith from some fans. I told him people will always moan but lots of people like you and enjoy what you do.

"I told him to celebrate, it was something special. He is a special player, we have difference makers. They are the ones who win us games. We want them to score every game but that isn't going to happen. The Fantasy managers won't be happy with you guys taking that goal off me."

A delighted Fernandes also spoke to MUTV and added: "It was really good, a nice afternoon, apart from the weather! It was a really important win because we need points in the league and everyone is aware of that. We have to kick on because we're too far behind where we want to be."

Garnacho is United's top goalscorer this season and has scored seven in all competitions.
