Bukayo Saka Arsenal injury latest after Harry Kane warning and Lee Carsley England response
Arsenal will be sweating on the fitness of Bukayo Saka ahead of the Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest after the international break. The winger suffered an injury against Chelsea, and has since pulled out of the England squad.
Saka was due to feature in Lee Carsley’s final games in charge of the national side when they take on Greece and the Republic of Ireland in the Nations League. But he is now one of nine players originally picked by the interim boss to withdraw from the squad.
The number of withdrawals has earned criticism from England captain Harry Kane, who himself has a slight injury, making him a doubt to start against Greece on Thursday night. Ahead of that match, the Bayern Munich striker told ITV: "I think England comes before anything.

"It comes before club and it is the most important thing you play as a professional footballer. Gareth was hot on that and he wasn't afraid to make decisions if that started to drift from certain players.
"It's a shame this week obviously. Yeah, I think it's a tough period of the season and maybe that's been taken advantage of a little bit.
"I don't really like it if I'm totally honest. I think as I just said there England comes before anything, any club situation. The joy to play for England - I think Gareth brought that back.
"Every camp, people were excited to come. Every camp people wanted to play for England and, yeah, that's the most important thing."
The comments have been a talking point for England fans over the last few hours, and has shone a light on the injuries within the squad. With that in mind, here is everything we know about Bukayo Saka and a potential return after the international break.
Saka injury latest
There is a slight mystery over the extent of the injury to Saka. The winger didn’t finish the game against Chelsea after hobbling off the pitch with what looked like a muscle injury, and has since pulled out of the England squad.
What has been said
In an update to the squad on Monday night, the FA confirmed that Saka was among eight players to pull out of international duty, although no explanation was given. Aston Villa’s “Morgan Rogers has received his first senior call up,” a statement read. “Jarrod Bowen and Jarrad Branthwaite along with the uncapped Tino Livramento and James Trafford have also been added to Lee Carsley’s squad.
“This follows the loss of eight players ahead of this week’s UEFA Nations League fixtures. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Levi Colwill, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Cole Palmer, Aaron Ramsdale, Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka are all unavailable.
“A 23-man squad will now prepare for Thursday’s trip to Greece and Sunday’s match against Republic of Ireland at Wembley.”
Carsley responds
Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Wednesday, interim England manager Lee Carsley gave his response to Kane’s comments. "The focus all camp has been on the players that are here," he said.
"It's important that we make the most of the situation. With the amount of players that have pulled out, it gives other players an opportunity to be here. The focus has been purely on the players that are here.
"It's [Harry's] opinion. I can only deal with what's in front of us. November is a challenging window, in the past we've had eight or nine call-offs. I know the Under-21s and Under-20s have had a lot of players pull out as well, so I think it's definitely that period of the season.
"I think fatigue and small injuries have played a part in it. It's a brilliant opportunity for other players on the outside of the squad. Now it's their chance."
