Callum McGregor delivers blunt Celtic answer to Rangers star Todd Cantwell's 'want it more' claim

Callum McGregor has been quizzed on Todd Cantwell's claim he wants to win more than the Celtic captain.

The pair have had ongoing tussles in Old Firm clashes since the Englishman moved to Ibrox in January 2023 and that carried on during the most recent clash, the 3-3 draw at Ibrox. The midfield rivals were at each other's throats throughout the game and it spilled over after the final whistle with Cantwell shoving McGregor after a heated exchange.

The former Norwich man went on to discuss the battle and insisted it's an on-pitch rivalry that goes no further than that. But he did potentially stoke the flames further by claiming that his desire to win is greater than McGregor's because he is new to the Scottish game.

Cantwell said: "There's a rivalry there, right? Listen, there are things which are said on the pitch and things which are said off the pitch. And, as a player, I think you should respect.

"I want to win probably just as much as he does, probably a little bit more, to be honest, because he has been up here a long time. It's a rivalry, it's a competition. Both teams want to win, both teams need to win. It stops there, that's all it is."

McGregor met the media today ahead of tomorrow's Old Firm clash and gave his reaction.

Asked about Cantwell's comment, he said bluntly: "If that's his opinion, then good for him."
