Camanche boys take third at home invite

Apr. 22—CAMANCHE — The Camanche Storm boys tennis team hosted their Storm Invitational on Saturday morning, welcoming some top notch competition to their courts.

Alleman got the win with 25 total points, North Scott second with 22.5, Camanche third with 15.5, Muscatine fourth with 10 and Clinton fifth with eight points.

The Storm did well, especially in doubles play as Pierson White and Tyler Hoerschelmann were able to take second in the number one bracket.

They took care of business in round one, winning 8-5 and then squeaked out an upset win in round two over Alleman. They dropped the finale 1-8.

Bobby Evers and Tristan Smith were able to get another second place finish at the number two spot with back to back 8-5 wins to get to the championship. However, they fell to North Scott 2-8 in the final match.

Rounding out doubles play for the Storm was Cameron Dorsey and Rylan Toppert who grabbed third place with an 8-2 win over Muscatine.

In singles play Smith was the top finisher for the Storm with a second place finish in number four singles. Dorsey finished in third place at the number five spot.

Finishing off with Clinton, the River Kings were led the by Jacob Fedderson and Blake Haskell who grabbed a third place finish in number one doubles, taking down Alleman. Haskell later took second place in number two singles while Fedderson finished in fourth in number one singles.

Finally, Clinton senior Mason Luckritz took second in number six singles, winning his first two matches before falling in the championship.

The Kings will host their own invitational this Saturday at the Max Lynn courts.
