Cameron Carter-Vickers on 'massive' block and another side to Celtic

Celtic hero Cameron Carter-Vickers says that the champions showed another side to their game as they managed to grind out a win in difficult conditions against Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

Reo Hatate’s goal was enough to settle a keenly contested game in Celtic’s favour, putting them seven points clear at the top of the table, though a crucial block from Carter-Vickers to deny Ester Sokler an equaliser played just as big a part in the outcome of the match.

“It was a big block, obviously,” Carter-Vickers said.

“We were one up at the time. It was definitely a big block.

“I think we showed that as a team we could dig in when we needed to. We could put in challenges and fight for the ball.

“That's what the game is about. We're going to put the ball in the net in one end and keep it out of the other end.

“Like I was saying, I think we showed throughout the game that we were up for a battle, up for a fight. And it paid off in the end.

“It was a big win. The wind and the rain made it difficult to play football, but I thought we showed another side to our game, which was a fight and determination.

“It was good to grind out a few points.”

Auston Trusty, who was bailed out by his defensive partner after his slip inadvertently set up that chance for Sokler, agreed that Celtic showed steel to get over the line in ‘insane’ conditions.

“It was a good win,” he said.

“Obviously, the team is confident. No matter how long the game goes on, we're confident that we're going to get the win.

“But yeah, the conditions were insane. The wind was changing in every direction. Definitely hard to read the ball there. We all had to deal with it, but we did well.

“Going out there to warm up, it was freezing. The wind was blowing at the back and it was difficult. I kind of expected that type of game. We knew we could compete in that type of game, but I think we showed that.”
